  • HST Gone!

So, now the HST is finally history.  Good riddance.  Now, what will our esteemed BC Liberals do?

My thoughts:  If the BC Liberals HONESTLY believe that the HST is good for the province (even though they didn’t before the last election) then it doesn’t take a lot of intellect to realize that the HST vote was not about the HST itself, but rather a way to punish the government for it’s betrayal and deceit.

So, if they really have the interests of BC in their hearts (not likely), then why not simply say… “Ok, we get the message and even though we promised to revert to the PST, we still believe that the HST is good for us.  To that end, we need an election NOW and our party’s position on the HST is that we need it and will introduce it if reelected.”

Now it’s in the other party’s hands to let us know if they’ll rescind the HST or keep it and if so, why.

Wouldn’t that make a lot more sense than this brinksmanship?

  • BC Liberals. Sigh.

So, the latest nonsense regarding the HST that they’re trying to get us to believe is that they will lower the rate to 10%. But we have to wait until 2014 for this wonderful change to start. Just one question… who says that the BC Liberals will be in power in 2014? If they’re not around to fulfill their “promise”… what good is it?

And don’t forget, the Liberals are definitely NOT GOOD at forecasting anything to with economics. Remember how quickly the crash came for them (although other more reputable organizations were aware of the issues long before these Liberal geniuses) and that forced them to react “quickly” with their HST idea. What if another “surprise” drops out of the air and then they once again re-neg and we’re left holding the bag?

This is our only chance to get rid of this HST. Do it and take the power back from the tin pot dictators. THEN start the discussion on how we should deal with taxes moving forward. We just need to ensure that this rushed and poorly thought out HST disappears. If we stick with it, we’re in trouble down the road.

Vote to get rid of the HST.

When we finally get an election here in the province of BC, please remember which party effectively patted you on the head as if you were a child and said “we know best” and pushed forward on the HST vote even though over 80% of us said no.
The only reason we’re even having the opportunity to vote on this is because of the BC Liberals arrogance.
    Don’t forget. I won’t.

  • BC Liberals at it again…

Have you seen the latest ads that the BC Liberals have been producing claiming something like 12% if you vote yes, or 10% if you vote no?  I am amazed that these people still haven’t learned the lesson.  Why they persist in this nonsense is simply beyond me.

First of all, the choice really is back to what it was before which actually means 12% on SOME items and only 5% on others, because the PST didn’t apply to some items or 10% on most items going forward.  You are better off with the old system.

Those common items would drop back to 5% GST only, depending on if the BC Liberals keep their promise to restore the original system as it was.  I’m hearing rumours lately though, that they might not even do this if they lose the HST.  I wouldn’t put it past them to figure out some way to keep the tax revenue flowing even if they lose the vote.

I simply cannot wait for the next provincial election.
